3rd INTERNATIONAL MEETING
Acting together for the future of the Blue Planet
January 29th - February 1st, 2006
The World Ocean Network and partners are organizing the 3rd International Meeting “Acting Together for the Future of the Blue Planet” at NAUSICAÄ, Centre National de la Mer,Boulogne sur Mer, France, from 29th January to 1st February 2006. The World Ocean Network operates in synergy with the Global Forum on Oceans, Coasts and Islands which was established at the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg in 2002 to promote the international ocean stewardship.
All institutions addressing the general public and raising their awareness on the Ocean with the aim of guaranteeing its sustainable development are invited to participate in the Meeting.
Specialists and witnesses will share their views about topics such as biodiversity, sea and earth pollutions, the Ocean resources and climatic changes.
Participants will contribute to the elaboration of a three-year action plan targeted at the information and education of the public in order to trigger environment-friendly behaviours and to favour a reasonable and sustainable use of the Ocean resources. Our ambition is to reach 200 million people every year.
The Event, under the aegis of the IOC/UNESCO Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission and of the United Nations Environment Programme as part of the Global Programme of Action for the Protection of the Marine Environment from Land-based Activities will immediately follow the Global Conference on Oceans, Coasts and Islands that will take place at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris.

3ème RENCONTRE INTERNATIONALE Le Réseau Océan Mondial et ses partenaires organisent la 3ème Rencontre Internationale “Agir Ensemble pour l'Avenir de la Planète Bleue” du 29 janvier au 1er février 2006 à NAUSICAÄ, Centre National de la Mer, à Boulogne/Mer - France. Le Réseau travaille en synergie avec le Forum Global sur les Océans, Côtes et Iles initié en 2002 lors du Sommet Mondial sur le Développement Durable à Johannesburg afin de promouvoir à l’échelle internationale la bonne gestion des ressources de l’océan..
Agir ensemble pour l'avenir de la Planète Bleue
29 janvier - 1er février 2006
Tous les organismes intéressés par la sensibilisation du grand public sur la question de l’Océan dans la perspective d’un développement durable sont invités à prendre part à la Rencontre.
Des spécialistes et des témoins apporteront des éclairages sur des thèmes tels que la biodiversité, les pollutions marines et terrestres, les ressources de l’Océan et le changement climatique. Les participants contribueront à élaborer un plan d’action sur trois ans qui vise l’information et l’éducation du public pour inciter à un comportement respectueux de l’environnement et favoriser une utilisation raisonnée et durable des ressources de l’Océan. Notre ambition est de toucher, chaque année, 200 millions de personnes.
Cette Rencontre est placée sous l’égide de la Commission Océanographique Intergouvernementale de l’UNESCO et du Programme des Nations Unies pour l’Environnement dans le cadre du Programme d’Action Mondial pour la protection du milieu marin contre la pollution due aux activités terrestres. Elle fera immédiatement suite à la Conférence Globale sur les Océans, Côtes et Iles qui aura lieu au siège de l’UNESCO à Paris.
